I am the founder and executive director of the HMCS ALBERNI Museum and Memorial in Courtenay, BC Canada. On 21 August of this year (2024) we will be commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the sinking of HMCS ALBERNI and the loss of 59 of her crew with a ceremony and dedication of a permanent memorial wall listing the name of every crewman who served on the Alberni between 1941 and 1944. I've been searching RUclips for the perfect presentation of this hymn to play just before the 59 names are read aloud and this video has me in tears. I wish I could bottle everyone on the stage up in a bottle and bring them to Canada for our ceremony but alas, we don't yet have that kind of technology. This is 11 years late, but thank you all for creating such a stirring and moving version of this song.

Dan Forrest is a prolific arranger of many hymns and he did a great job with this, giving many choristers reason enough to attend practice. 😅

My choir is doing this tomorrow. Wish us well! It’s probably my favorite song all year. These kids do an excellent job! I can only imagine the teenage eye rolls over having to stand in front of each other and hold hands while they sang it - but they were good sports. Looked like they were even enjoying it a little. 😊

Awesome! I just sang this last night with the Brevard Community Choir, Youth Choral and Brevard Symphony Orchestra in Melbourne Florida :)

First time I heard this song was at an annual band festival that is held in my area. This song instantly brought tears to my eyes. Every now and then I come back to this video to truly appreciate the beauty of this song.

Surely one of the top ten church hymns of all time--words AND tune. Millions of Christians are not learning this great music, in church or Christian radio OR Christian (or secular college.)
